This is the third book of this author that I've read, I love reading and try to mix up different genres with the mountain man being my favourite, so it's been a little while since I read this author's last book and sadly after a little while I remembered what annoyed me about the other two books I had read. The story was quite good but confusing on times, I sometimes had to backtrack to see if I had missed something only to find I hadn't, other than this the book was was so descriptive on times to the extent of being boring, it could have been half the length and much more interesting without all the animal noises etc and a lot of the fights appeared to have been copied and pasted as they were so similar. If he could just streamline his books they would be quite good rather than boring.Product details

Authentic detail. Great battle encounters. Characters are very believable. Shaman skill is insightful. Ability to. Fully utilize nature's bounty to survive was amazing

Good but slow, hard to keep track of time structure
Various descriptions and stories unsuccessfully put together. The author could have spent a little more time and made the overall story work, but didn't do so.
interesting time piece
The war trails series is one of the best I've read in a long time. Strong believable characters. I've read the complete series and hated that it came to and end. This is how the west really was, cruel, dangerous,lonely and beautiful. This is not your Hollywood cowboys and Indian BS. This book treated both side honestly and pulled no punches.
